All-State Gymnastics Banquet

The Oklahoma Gymnastics All-State Banquet
was held September 5, 2014, in Norman.
Aim High Academy was pleased to have four gymnasts
qualify to attend this special event:
Sheridan, Skylar, Hadley, and Kiona.
Making this event even more special was the fact that it was Kiona's birthday!

To qualify for Oklahoma All-State, a gymnast has to have achieved a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finish
or 37.00 All-around at the Oklahoma State Championships.
Also, all Regional, Westerns and National qualifiers are included,
but they must compete at either State, Regionals, or both in order to be All-State.
Oklahoma Elite gymnast qualifiers are also included.

Sheridan, Skylar, and Kiona with their awards.
Congratulations to our four gymnasts!!!

We finally have stall bars!

We appreciate
Laredo Petroleum
whose wonderful grant
enabled us to purchase these stall bars!
Stall bars are an excellent tool
for developing strength, conditioning, and flexibility.
Gymnasts can hang from a higher bar with their back facing the bar
and perform abdominal exercises, or hang facing the bar to stretch their back.

Thank you,

Laredo Petroleum!

Kevin Durant - STRONG & KIND

Kevin Durant has partnered with KIND, a healthy snack food company,
to promote an initiative which aims to challenge deep-rooted stereotypes
and redefine cultural perceptions of strength and kindness.

Durant and KIND ask people to commit to these five principles:
•  Having the courage to be kind when others may not
•  Looking out for those who can't look out for themselves
•  Standing up when others would rather stand out
•  Leaving their world a kinder place than they found it
•  Being Strong and Kind

Aim High Academy was one of 35 recipients
receiving a $10,000 grant
from the Kevin Durant Foundation
and will be promoting the above five principles in its program.

"This is really near and dear to my heart.
I just want to change how people think about being kind.
A lot of people associate it with being weak.
But I think you have to be really strong to be kind and respectful."
--Kevin Durant

We thank the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation
for selecting Aim High to receive a grant.

We are so grateful to KIND
for donating $1 million to the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation
to create specialized education and after-school programming
for at-risk youth to teach them how to be
STRONG & KIND.

What a blessing!
